Airalo vs Holafly for Israel
Updated
Short answer: For Israel, Airalo is the better pick for light data users on a budget, and Holafly is the better pick for heavy data users who want unlimited plans. Neither is the right choice if you need an Israeli phone number for calls and SMS: Holafly is data-only, and Airalo’s calls plans don’t state whether they issue a +972 number.
SabraConnect sells an Israel eSIM and publishes this page. Airalo and Holafly facts come from their own Israel pages, checked on the date shown.

Which one wins for your trip?
- Five-day trip with maps and messaging: Airalo. A small data package is enough and costs least.
- Several countries on one trip: Airalo, which sells regional and multi-country plans.
- Heavy daily data without counting: Holafly, if 1GB a day of hotspot and fair-use throttling are acceptable.
- You need to call restaurants, guides or hosts, or receive Israeli SMS codes: neither. SabraConnect's plans include a +972 number with calls and SMS, from $20 for 14 days.
Israel eSIM with a local number
Can I switch between eSIMs?
Yes. You can keep an Airalo or Holafly eSIM installed and add another one. Most eSIM phones store several eSIMs but use one line for data at a time; choose it under Settings → Mobile (or Cellular) Data.
Limitations to know
- Airalo: most Israel data plans have no calls or SMS, and the calls plans (Annatel+) don’t state whether a +972 number is issued.
- Holafly: data-only, hotspot limited to 1GB a day, and fair-use throttling after heavy use.
- SabraConnect: Israel only, and not unlimited.
Our recommendation
Choose Airalo for a short, light-data or multi-country trip, and Holafly for heavy data use without counting. If an Israeli number matters to you, choose a plan that includes one.
Frequently asked questions
Is Airalo or Holafly cheaper for Israel?
For small amounts of data, Airalo usually is: its Israel data plans cost $4 to $69 as of October 18, 2026. For long trips with heavy use, compare Holafly's per-day price with Airalo's largest package.
Does Holafly work in Israel?

Does Airalo give you an Israeli phone number?
Its Israel data plans don’t. Its Annatel+ plans include local minutes and SMS but don’t state whether a +972 number is issued.
Can I make calls with Holafly in Israel?
Not over the mobile network. Holafly is data-only, so calls go through apps such as WhatsApp.
Which works better outside Tel Aviv?
Both depend on the Israeli network they use (Airalo: Annatel (5G); Holafly: Partner / Pelephone / Hot Mobile). For desert or border areas, check that network's coverage map.
Can I use hotspot?
Holafly allows up to 1GB a day. Airalo's Israel page doesn't state a hotspot rule, so check the specific plan.
What if I need an Israeli number?
Choose a plan that includes one. SabraConnect's plans include a +972 number, from $20.
Can I have both installed?
Yes. Most eSIM phones store several eSIMs; switch the data line in settings.
